CAITY SIMMERS (Oceanside, CA)
Oceanside native Caitlin “Caity” Simmers is the youngest-ever WSL World Champion and 2024 Olympian. She has redefined the playing field for a new generation of surfers with her laid-back approach, radical creativity, and natural and progressive style.
In 2021, at just 15, Caity claimed first place at the US Open of Surfing, becoming the second-youngest champion in the event's history. The victory qualified her for the WSL Championship Tour, but she chose to opt out, focusing instead on refining her craft and travelling, which led to the creation of her first surf film, Toasted.
Caity showcased her potential on the world stage in 2023, securing the Rookie of the Year title and finishing 4th on the Tour. Her standout 2024 WCT season included victories at Pipeline Pro, Bells Beach Pro, and Rio Pro, culminating in the coveted WSL World Tour title—all achieved at just 18 years old, only minutes from her hometown.
Caity hopes to continue inspiring through her surfing and filmmaking, driving meaningful change for the future of surfing.
