O’NEILL BLUE PROJECTS

Giving back to our shared playground and community has been part of O’Neill’s DNA ever since Jack O’Neill invented the first wetsuit. It is through continued partnership with impact driven organisations that we stay connected to Our Ocean Mission and support the people and planet O’Neill was built close to.

SAVE THE WAVES

O’Neill has partnered with the non-profit organisation Save The Waves Coalition to support their global efforts to preserve surf ecosystems. Both organisations share a joint mission focusing on protecting the oceans and the lasting legacy of surfing. In 2023, Save The Waves Coalition celebrated its 20th anniversary, gaining recognition for protecting, stewarding and defending surf ecosystems on an international scale with projects spanning across Mexico, Brazil, Australia, Costa Rica, the Maldives and beyond. O’Neill actively supports Saves The Waves Coalition’s goal to have 1000 surf ecosystems preserved by 2030 through various projects and activations.

SEA ODYSSEY

In 1966, Jack O’Neill created the Sea Odyssey to educate students on the importance of the relationship between the living sea and environment. Today through O’Neill’s efforts there are more than 2000 volunteers, in 43 chapters, in 11 countries. O'Neill’s Sea Odyssey provides a hands-on educational experience to encourage the protection and preservation of our living sea and communities.

BEACH CLEAN UP

Eneco Clean The Beach and O'Neill host a free beach clean-up together with various Belgian and Dutch surf and beach clubs. Large groups are invited by location to come together and reflect on the plastic problem in our oceans and beaches. Together, with surf and beach clubs, O’Neill supports this community event to sweep the entire North Sea coastline clean.

"THE OCEAN IS ALIVE AND WE'VE GOT TO TAKE CARE OF IT."

Jack O'Neill

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION

O’Neill stands behind the Surfrider Foundation Europe, a non-profit organisation whose purpose is to protect and showcase the importance of lakes, rivers, the ocean, waves, and coastlines. It currently has over 13,000 members and is active across 9 countries through its volunteer-run branches. For almost 30 years, Surfrider Foundation Europe has been taking action as a recognized authority in three areas of expertise: marine litter, water quality and public health, coastal management and climate change.

SURFERS, NOT STREET CHILDREN

O’Neill is a proud supporter of Surfers, Not Street Children, a non-profit organisation that helps vulnerable and impoverished children in Durban, South Africa and Tofo, Mozambique. The SNSC program fuses surfing, mentorship, and care to transform children's futures as they build a life of self-sustainability and independence.
